Roger Wilton
As genealogists from all over the world are aware, Irish records are virtually none existent due to the events of the Irish civil war of 1922. However there are will extracts made by Swanzy, in one of his entries he mentions the Wiltons of County Cavan. I have come across, in all of my research three wills in existence. The one below is from Swanzy's extracts;

WILTON, ROGER of Anna, parish of Kilmore,Co Cavan. To be buried at Kildrumferton. To eldest dau. Mary W. I have already paid her fortune. Second dau. Anne L300. 3rd Margt L300. Eldest son John lands of Ballyhelland & the Derries, par. of Kilmore. His mother's fortune of L220 (L20) a year. 2nd son Richard already provided for, also 3rd son Wm,. 4th son George L300. 5th son Thomas L300, both under 21. Wife Mary Wilton. Dated Mar. 24, 1794. Codicil undated, proved Dec, 8, 1797. (He married Mary Bell & had a dau. Margt bapt at Kilmore, June 11, 1778)

 

From this John Wilton of the Flatt is a son of the above mentioned Roger Wilton. His other son George Wilton emigrated to Canada and opened a whole new chapter of the Wilton family. My information on this line is wholly gleaned from Andy Wilton of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
